A 35-year-old Franklin man has been arrested, ending a stand off last night that lasted for several hours.

Officers arrived at around 6pm last night following reports of a stand off.

Police observed extensive damage to the house and when they approached the property, the man threatened to burn it down.

Negotiations commenced, it's alleged the man lit two fires, both of which were extinguished by ACT Fire and Rescue officers.
