Only days after been announced as the Liberal Candidate for Kurrajong, Peter McKay has resigned.

As reported in the Canberra Times, Mr McKay once claimed the influence of the ACT's "homosexual chief minister" and "strong lesbian influence inside ACT Policing" was the reason why authorities dismissed suggestions an explosion outside of the Australian Christian Lobby's offices was an attack based on religion.

ACT Policing said at the time the attack was not based on religion or ideological motivations.

In a Statement, ACT Opposition Leader Alistair Coe says the comments published today do not accord with the standard he expects of the Liberal team.

Mr Coe went on to say Canberra must be inclusive of all people, regardless of their culture, ethnicity, faith, gender or sexuality.
